It looks like Boom (and CHIN) are now broadcasting HD after the recent CN Tower upgrades.

What's on their HD channels? It doesn't make a lot of sense to put an already really good sounding FM signal on HD. Is there anything else there?

There isn't. An HD without subchannels sounds better than FM and cleans up a lot of signal issues, especially downtown. It also allows better visuals on radio screens and in certain cars sends listening data back to stations.

I can't seem to post images right now. CHIN has CHIN-FM on HD1 and CHIN-AM on HD2 as of this morning.
Amazing what clearing the browser cache will do. Images follow.

It must sound good! I dont have an HD tuner unfortunately
It depends on the station as far as sound quality goes. The highs seem a little scratchy on Boom in HD. Z-103 has deeper bass in HD. It does really clean up background noise, though, especially on Classical 96.3 where there are a lot of quiet passages in their music. Jazz FM should adopt it for the same reason. Of course, this is just what I hear on my VW radio in the car.
