Thursday was the final show of the season for CBC Radio 1's advertising and marketing show, "Under The Influence." It ended the way it does every year, with host Terry O'Reilly answering listener letters.
In the show's final moments, O'Reilly promised some original content on the show's website over the summer. But he also mentioned that because next year's edition would mark 20 years on CBC Radio, they were planning a series of special shows - including one still-to-be-announced program that will be recorded live.
CBC typically plays reruns for a while but new episodes won't be back until sometime in January.
Call it a pause for the sponsor. Albeit a very long one.

By the way, this finale had a great segment on how much musicians get paid for the use of their music as theme songs for TV shows.
That means groups like The Who (CSI) and The Barenaked Ladies, whose "Big Bang Theory" tune continues to play in seemingly perpetuity on reruns of that sitcom. He told a great story about how BNL came to record the song for the show and how lucrative it continues to be.
You can read that story (and listen to the show if you have the time) here.

A great show. Congrats Terry on your upcoming 20th!

If I had to choose my top ten podcasts that I look forward to (and even recommend and return to certain episodes more than once), Under The Influence would make the grade.
I've never (but boy did I want to!) been able to find and listen to the very first episode ever from The Age of Persuasion. The episode was called "So You Want To Be A Voice Actor."
Congratulations to Terry O'Reilly and the rest of the broadcast team.
