June 2nd 1936 The Canadian Broadcast Act was given assent in parliament which created the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The CBC replaced the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission which had been around since May 1932.
A few months later on November 2nd 1936 the CBC introduced it's first radio network. In 1940 CBC released it's first primary logo that was used until 1958. The logo with the golden lightening bolts underneath the map symbolized the fact that all regions of the country were connected through the public broadcasters airwaves.
