She's written literally hundreds of classic songs, she had one of the best selling albums in Billboard history and she's the subject of a hit Broadway play. And now Carole King will get the American Masters treatment in a show that airs this coming Friday (Jan. 20th) at 10 PM on WNED.
This actually aired last February to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the landmark LP "Tapestry," but I missed it. And I suspect a number of others here might have as well. According to the promo material:
"Carole King: Natural Woman weaves previously unseen and rare performances and home movies with a new, exclusive interview with King, friends, fellow songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, Tapestry producer Lou Adler, drummer Russ Kunkel, guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, and more."
From the preview I saw, it looks great, like most of the Masters series.

By the way, the entire show is already online, but I just noticed a new wrinkle - unless you're a member of a PBS station, like Channel 17, and get something called a "passport," you're not allowed to watch it over the web. Seems a mite unfair for a taxpayer-supported network but everyone is chasing a buck. I'll just DVR it on Friday night.
