This isn’t about local TV per se, but it’s the very first time I’ve ever seen this. And it’s bugged a lot of viewers for years – when a series gets cancelled, it often leaves those who watched it without an ending. Even worse is when the season ends with a huge cliff hanger and it’s never resolved.
But the CW Network in the U.S. is finally addressing that long insensitivity to loyal followers with a promise. There is a very good chance that two of their shows, “Frequency” and “No Tomorrow” will not get renewed due to low numbers. Execs insist if that happens, they will make available an online “tag” – a very short video – that effectively wraps up whatever loose ends remain, so that no one is left hanging.
I’m sure they won’t spend a lot of money on this, but it’s kind of a nice change to an otherwise huge disservice to people who like a show that simply didn’t attract a big enough audience to keep going. I’m hoping the trend spreads - and that there's no geoblocking.
No Tomorrow, Frequency to Deliver Closure on Digital Side If Not Renewed
