It's called "The Network" and unlike many of the others so-called FAST (Free Ad Supported Streaming Television) services, this one promises a copious amount of original programming you can't see anywhere else. In fact, that promise is in its slogan: "Always Originals, Always Free."
It will slowly roll out its new slate of shows, starting with a drama called "The Green Veil," starring John Leguizamo. According to TV Insider:
"The series follows a government agent in the 1950s tasked with an unraveling secret mission that threatens to expose deeper secrets."
The other new show at launch is an acclaimed British comedy called "Chivalry," about a female director brought on board a TV series, clashing with a male producer.
Here's the other odd thing about "The Network" - unlike other free streamers, this one promises not to have reruns of old network TV on it, and will not have a lot there at the beginning, vowing instead to release only two new original shows at a time.
The other question not addressed in the article is whether this new service will be available to Canadians without a VPN when it launches at the end of April.
