With the death of former P.M. Brian Mulroney, I was wondering whether AM640 might cancel its weekend morning show, hosted by his son, Ben. The latter is understandably absent, now with family readying for his father's state funeral.
But I wondered if the station would simply cancel the show until he returns and air rerolls or somehow carry on. Turns out, they wisely chose the latter. "Lets' Talk" producer Glenn Bragonier is temporarily taking over, conveying messages from Mulroney thanking all those well wishers for their condolences and sympathies. He promises to return, although there's obviously no date being given.
As for Bragonier, who does some feature work on the Dani Stover show as well as producing it, I'm not entirely sure about his tenure. His regular show runs five days a week and now he's temporarily doing weekends. No one can work seven days in a row - especially at opposite ends of the clock - so whether he'll be back next Saturday and Sunday remains to be seen.
As it is, the weekend talker is the only live morning radio show in the city at that hour and it's nice to have someone there for us early risers.
