Never met the man but I can honestly say he was someone I truly admired from a distance...

When I was a teenager -- a year or two into my less than illustrious radio career -- I would listen to him and marvel at what came out of the speaker...

I phoned him a few times too...he was very nice to me and we were at opposite ends of the food chain believe me...
