The Toronto Public Library, despite some recent issues with a cyber-attack, has an incredible number of images of Toronto radio from days past and you can see them all free online. I've gone through some of the pages and they're really a blast from the past. There are over 500 of them in total, and you can see the thumbnails or enlarge the photos here.
They seem to have come from the Toronto Star, and among the photos that stood out to me:
-The clean-up of the day in August 1986 when the CHUM tower was toppled by a vandal at 1331 Yonge St.
-Sandy Hoyt wiping away a tear as he ends his on-air broadcast career at CHFI in 1985.
-Hartley Hubbs getting into the CHUM Chopper to cover traffic in 1955.
-A look at the newsroom at Q107/AM640 in North York from 1992.
-The CHFI record library as it looked back in 1967.
-Remember CHOO Radio in Ajax? There's a shot of a crowded control room from the AM outlet taken in 1975.
-The late, great (and former SOWNY member) Don Daynard gets ready for his "Lookin' Back' show on CKFM. The year: 1981
-Pete 'N Geets on CFNY-FM in 1986
-The Toronto Star's CFCA-AM Headquarters, sometime in the late 20s or early 30s.
-CFRB's Wally Crouter broadcasting live from the SkyDome on the day before it officially opened (1989)
-Michelle Finney and Howard The Turtle on CBC's Razzle Dazzle, 1965 and
-Bob McAdorey doing his shift in the CFGM Control Room. (1976)
