Let's Talk Advertising

Why do we hardly ever hear any ads for household products on radio?  Ads for cleaners, toothpaste, ketchup, soup laundry detergent etc.  We use to, but for a long time now any radio advertising for household products is almost non existent.

Proctor and Gamble in the US INCREASED their radio spend by $445 million in their latest quarter.  This was in addition to what they were already spending for radio.  P&G is a huge manufacturer of many well known household products and certainly seem to believe in radio advertising.  In the US at least.

The question, why is this type of advertising absent so much on Canadian radio?  It is all over the place on TV but almost nothing for radio.
