There have been a ton of longtime and legendary local newscasters on TV over the years, including Irv Weinstein, who spent 34 years as the anchor on WKBW's Eyewitness News.
But even the late Irv can't match what Rochester's Don Alhart has done. He's been behind the anchor desk at Channel 13's WHAM-TV for an astounding 57+ years, earning him a Guinness Book of World Records mark for longest serving TV newscaster.
He's been on the air in the Western New York City since 1966, an incredible career. And so far, it doesn't appear he has any plans to retire. That's a pretty amazing run.

Makes me wonder - which current Canadian anchor is the longest running at the same station?
Historically the longest serving Canadian anchor continuously at the same station would likely be Max Keeping, who was at CJOH Ottawa from 1973 to 2010.

Dan McLean also lasted 37 years at CHCH-TV, although not all of those as an anchorman. According to Wikipedia, he started at the station in 1971 as a commercial announcer and then he would later host the "Mid-day" show. In 1980, Dan would be promoted to the anchor position of the 6 and 11pm newscasts until 2008, when he left the station (not of his own accord, unfortunately).
