LG is dropping ATSC 3.0 from its TVs next year

LG’s new TVs won’t support the IP-based broadcast system, costing ATSC 3.0 one of its most prominent advocates.

I wonder how this decision will impact their market share?    It's a daring decision for a manufacturer to turn their back on a new technology when it appears their competitors aren't.   This is a good layman's article about the benefits:  What is ATSC 3.0 and according to it, they're giving up a lot of features for OTA reception.

On another note, as far as HDR goes, I see every TV with it today but it's being sold installed on TV's that aren't bright enough, making the image almost impossible to watch because it's too dim.   I discovered this too late when I purchased one in 2020 and what appeared to be a very bright screen to me wasn't bright enough for optimal viewing of HDR programs (and I'm a specifications nut).

Sounds like they're rolling the dice, but OTA can't be that big in our market, but must be in some less developed countries.   I wonder what their strategy is for those ones?

There's also this gentleman who is always on top of things when it comes to ATSC,
BUT
it's FCC related, not CRTC related...
