They call it Amazon Prime, and it's going to come at a premium - or would that be Prime-ium?
Either way, if you're a subscriber to the retail giant's streaming service, be prepared to shell out an extra few bucks for an ad free experience, as the streamer confirms it will be adding commercials to its regular tier in 2024. The announced price so far is only for U.S. subscribers - an extra $3 a month.
The company says other countries - including Canada - will find out what the commercial-free experience will cost them in a later announcement coming in the New Year.
"The company added that the decision was made in an effort to "continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period time." It vowed to have "meaningfully fewer ads" than other streaming TV providers and linear TV."
This is just the latest service to up the ante for its video "spot remover." It will be up to subscribers to decide if either version is worth the price.
Amazon Prime Video will start running commercials starting in early 2024

It's so fragmented now, I don't see people giving up more money. With all the rate increases, the people/streaming companies who wanted to fight piracy have just encouraged it.

I like to believe somebody's gonna buy out somebody one of these days,
decrease streaming options, hopefully without decreasing choice.
