I like it but there must be over a hundred French channels that no one will ever watch.

I figured.
You really think having a hundred French channels in Toronto is necessary?

No.
But why would they block them?
I guess it is easy and it has no value.

To you.
It's a slight advantage for Bell.
Rogers doesn't carry the channels since they don't operate in Quebec.
Bell ends up with a better offering for francophones outside of Quebec.

Those channels don't register on the ratings.

It's a slight advantage for Bell. Too many channels for such a small population.
Rogers doesn't carry the channels since they don't operate in Quebec.

Ratings are irrelevant.
Bell ends up getting more subscribers due to having more channels.

I don't know anyone who gets Bell Fibe for the French channels. The Franco-Ontario population is not that big.

The lineup is national.
Bell carries all those French channels since they compete with Videotron and Cogeco in Quebec. Rogers doesn't since they don't.
That gives Bell a very slight advantage outside of Quebec.
What's your point?

They could package these French channels and make Franco Ontarians pay for them. And give others some options. It's lazy and political. Nothing more.

You're not paying for them.

Sorry there are French channels in your cable package that don't cost you anything and you don't have to watch. That's tough and totally worth a post here.

Bell should find 100 English channels for that space.
I am so glad I am with Rogers. No problem with French here.

I got Crave at no cost for a number of years. Rogers has no Crave or anything remotely similar.

I was supposed to only have Disney Plus for 6 months. Rogers loyalty found me an extra 6 months.
It's not "a number of years" but it is Disney, which is still of high value.
I seem to have no use for Crave at this time, & I barely use Disney plus as is, but it's the thought that counts.

Some things I noticed:
The Stingray channels on Rogers had the title of the song playing and the next song due up. Bell has a black screen. What year is this?
Do we really need the graphic porn titles Bell? I never noticed this on Rogers.
On the good side, I will get five NFL games on Sunday at 1 pm because Bell has time shifting and more regional channels. Rogers got rid of time shifting and I told them they will lose NFL fans.

Cash: "Bell carries French channels that nobody watches"
Translation: "Bell offers me French channels that I can choose whether or not to watch on this service that I willingly signed up for which also includes all of the channels I wish to watch"
Cash: "I am not in quebec"
Translation: "I am not capable of understanding that other people live in places which is not where I live, and they also may enjoy content that I do not, and vice-versa. Therefore, companies may try to target people that are like me, but also people that are not like me"
Cash: "having a hundred French channels in Toronto isn't necessary"
Translation: "I do not want these channels, so good thing Bell gives me the option of hiding channels on my guide which I do not wish to see. And the Francophone individuals can also do the same at no cost"
Cash: "I don't know anyone who gets Bell Fibe for the French channels"
Translation: "I assume that nobody else in this country speaks French nor watches French TV because my 5 friends do not"
Cash: "so much for choice"
Translation: "I am being offered more choice than I had before, on a service I willingly signed up for, and I am still complaining"
This was an all-timer thread. Thanks for the laugh before bed.

Rogers has time shifting for $3 extra per month. ($3 for Canadian, $3 for American =$6 extra per month)
