Is This The Last New Radio Station In Canada For The Next 2 Years?

Last week, the CRTC granted a licence for what could be the last new radio station in Canada while it pauses applications to look into implementing Bill C-11. It was for a new entrant in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

New Lunenburg radio licence might be the last in years as Ottawa renews broadcasting rules

As I understand it any application filed prior to the moratorium (August 22)  will be vetted in due couse. Which based on the typical processing time might well be equivalent to 2 years. Nevertheless congratulations to Scott Clements for his first license.

Keep an eye on Canadian Radio News (CRN) on RadioWest.ca.  Don Sys has daily updates on CRTC news and decisions.  On Friday Four Sense Entertainment was approved for a new commercial AAA station in Squamish BC.  This group also has CKEE a AAA outlet in Whistler, but the new station is not a repeater and will have 126 hours weekly of local programming.
