Two of Bell's most prominent programs have been sanctioned by the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council. 

The first, against W5, concerned the story of a disputed dog ownership. (Not sure why this was a W5 story, which generally does more hard hitting yarns, but there it is.) The CBSC concluded there were some inaccuracies in the report, and that CTV should have been clearer about those involved in the dispute. 

The network must now broadcast a mea culpa that reads:

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council has found that CTV breached the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ Code of Ethics and Radio Television Digital News Association’s Code of Journalistic Ethics in its broadcast of a W5 segment entitled “Dog Fight” on March 11, 2023. CTV did not provide a full, balanced and accurate account of a pet custody dispute and it failed to correct its errors in accordance with those codes."

The second was against our old friend Vassy Kapelos, and an appearance by CTV political specialist Tom Mulcair over something he said about the January 6th attack on Washington. (I love the fact that an old John Michael Show complaint was brought up as a precedent.)

As a result, CFRA (but apparently not the entire network, though the show is on nationally) must make the following announcement on air:

"The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council has found that CFRA breached the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ Code of Ethics and the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Code of Journalistic Ethics in a broadcast of The Vassy Kapelos Show on April 3, 2023. The broadcast included an imprecise statement contrary to Clause 6 of the CAB Code. The statement should have been clarified as required by Article 1.3 of the RTDNA Code."

Which will mean nothing to anyone.
