TVO workers on strike

Despite extending talks past the Friday strike deadline, not enough progress was made:

Re: TVO workers on strike

The Canadian Media Guild issued a brief statement on the walkout through its website

"The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) is announcing that as of 10:30 a.m. today, Monday, August 21, TVO workers are walking off the job (2180 Yonge St.). We are deeply saddened to have not been able to reach a fair and reasonable agreement with our employer."

It does not say if or when any new talks might be possible.

Re: TVO workers on strike

Steve Paikin has come out in favour of the strikers, even though their absence may interrupt his show.

Striking workers rally as Steve Paikin warns TVO is the last of its kind: ‘The rest have all been sold, shut down, or starved’

Re: TVO workers on strike

New episodes of "The Agenda" typically return to the TVO evening schedule on the first Tuesday following the Labour Day holiday. This year, while the CMG members have been on strike, "The Agenda" has been airing "previously recorded" episodes from earlier in the year. These have been in place of the regular 8pm edition and the 11pm repeat since September 5th.

This seems to have changed this evening with the first of one hour documentaries being aired in the regular "Agenda" time slot. This evenings program was "Big Fight in Chinatown". Other programs scheduled for this week include ",  "Subjects of Desire",  "The Perfect Story",  "Picture My Face: The Story of Teenage Head",   and "Prey"

No sign of "The Agenda"....

Re: TVO workers on strike

I'm guessing this means the end of most of Steve Paikin's fill-in chores for AM640.
