Former CHIC-AM & CFNY-FM Announcer Is Gone

His real name was Doug Barron, but out east, at least, he was better known as Hal Harbour. The former Toronto radio veteran has passed away at the age of just 71. As Broadcast Dialogue points out, he spent much of his career in Halifax, with stops elsewhere, including the GTA at the old CHIC-AM and its FM counterpart, CFNY.

Re: Former CHIC-AM & CFNY-FM Announcer Is Gone

I remember him on CFNY and I particularly remember one day while going north on Highway 115/35 to our cottage around 1993/4. He played an indie bands version of the Beach Boys "Do it Again" I think he said it was by some of his friends. Was a nice version which I have not been able to locate again. I think he said it came from a tape and not an officially released recording.

He was a good jock and sounded like a real pro and industry veteran even back then.
