With all the craziness going on with Meta (and possibly Google) you shouldn't be having any issues with getting to the SOWNY Board. But every now and then, you can't connect. This has nothing to do with the Big Tech companies.
Earlier on Wednesday, the SOWNY Board was down for over half an hour or more. Trying to get through would give you a "Site cannot be reached" message or "Took too long to connect" warning.
This is a Boardhost issue and it happens every now and then - hopefully, not too often. But it always comes back, so give it a few minutes and try again. Not sure what the issue is, but if one Boardhost site disappears, they all do. Lorne's wonderful Oldies Music Board was also down for the duration of the outage.
The point of this semi-rambling post is to remind users that it's not Facebook, Instagram or anything else. It's a server problem at Boardhost.
But for those who don't know, there's a way to check if it's just you or everyone else. A site called "Is It Down Right Now" allows you to input any web address, hit "check" and see a result in just a few seconds. In this most recent outage, the results looked like this:
It's an easy way to tell if it's something on your end or everyone else's. A useful place to bookmark if any of the sites you frequent suddenly go missing.

Thanks, RA. I appreciate the shout-out, and this is helpful info. I just wish that you had let everyone here know about this while Boardhost was actually down ... after all, that's what Les Nessman would have done.

Or as one of the characters in WKRP In Cincinnati once told a listener on the phone, "How can we announce we're off the air when we're off the air?

What would Chi Chi Rodriguez say about this?
