Family Law and Moonshine Give CW Network Decent Friday Prime Time

This summer and fall, America's struggling 5th network, the CW, is heavy with cancon in prime time.  This past week on Monday, Thursday and Friday the network programmed all Canadian drama/comedy in the evening.

Friday worked out well with Global's Family Law bringing in 540,000 viewers at 8pm, followed by CBC's Moonshine at 9 with 420,000 watching.  These numbers are strong for CW which has been hurting in prime time for years.

The network has been getting a fair amount of press since they are the only US OTA network currently offering any real measurable amount of new scripted programming thanks to the Canadian imports.

The figures will also be updated at some point and could move up or down.  Friday ratings from The TV Ratings Guide...

CW has also signed an agreement with Nascar to broadcast the Xfinty series races, mainly a Saturday event, replacing ESPN as the host broadcaster beginning in  February 2025. TSN is the Canadian carrier. It remains to be announced as what will happen to  Canadian broadcast rights.

The deal with CW was just announced two days ago, so I wouldn't think that anything for TSN or Sportsnet would be for a little while yet.  I would think if TSN is happy with the ratings for NASCAR they will want to continue in 2025.

TSN has all kinds of NASCAR on today with the Cook Out 400 and earlier the Pinty's Series Bayer 300 from Alberta.
