Iconic 50K U.S. Station Moving Its Tower For First Time Since 1939

This isn't really important to most, but as someone who grew up listening to WGN Chicago at night (and I know I'm not the only one) I found this kind of interesting. It's a very local story of why the legendary station is moving its giant tower that has been in place since 1939 and what the owners are doing to try and blunt the impact on those who live in that area. 

The location that was once a farm in the 40s is now part of a city neighbourhood and the giant structure stands out like a sore thumb, even if most have long since adjusted to it. 

It's another case where valuable real estate is playing a part in decisons an AM radio station makes. Just thought some others would find this of note. 

WGN radio towers annexed into Elk Grove, with data centers and pickleball courts to come

And WLS, a station I listened to growing up, is getting a new coffee machine next week....
