These are some short but really fascinating videos of a CBS series from 1967 featuring "Uncle" Walter Cronkite, arguably the best anchorman in TV history, predicting what the world of 2001 would be like. Considering it was still more than three decades away and no one had ever heard of the Internet or a cell phone, some of what's featured in these less-than-2-minute videos is surprisingly accurate.
Well, except for maybe the kitchen of the future. I still have to buy my own plates and dishes and they're not remade for me every night.
But the living room segment, although the size and look of the equipment is vastly different, is awfully close to reality.
These are from an old CBS documentary series called "The 21st Century."
By the way, if you want to see the whole show, you can watch it below.

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopuses' garden in the shade.
Oh well I guess Walter et al didn't quite get it right.
Got a chance to meet Walter and have a nice chat with him in Moscow in the mid 1990s.
He was having dinner in the restaurant at a hotel near the train station where I was eating too.
I normally don't go up to famous people in public but I couldn't resist.
Anyway after I introduced myself as a reporter from Toronto he enthusiastically engaged in conversation and told me how he was in Moscow to do a documentary on the Russian space program.
His producer eventually butted in and told Walter they had to leave because they had to get up early.
The one thing that impressed me about Cronkite was his firm handshake.
But he was an accomplished sailor with years of gripping and grappling ropes.
Too bad my meeting with him was not in the age of smartphone selfies.
That's a memento I'd love to have.
