It's been a while since SCTV alum Dave Thomas has done much of anything (except that odd radio spot against a beer tax with Rick Moranis.) But now he's taking a page out of fellow Second City star Eugene Levy's book (with Schitt's Creek), creating a new show with his son.
It's called "The Orange" and it's being produced by the CBC and the BBC, which hopefully means it will air free in Canada without having to pay any streamer for the privilege.
So what's it about?
It "follows a family that witnesses a gangland bombing and is placed by The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in a witness protection program in Rye, England. Only when they reach their new U.K. home does the family realize the Mounties have been dumping all their witnesses and informants in Rye, including Canada’s most hardened criminals who are now their next-door neighbors."
I'm assuming that Thomas will be in it - the copy only says that he's "developing" it with his son Harrison, which doesn't absolutely mean he will star in it. But it will be a lot easier to promote if he does.
No word yet on when it might be in production or when it will air. But it will be nice to see him back on TV.
