The former CTV and Global news anchor shares his thoughts.
The highlights:
- Bellmedia's numbers on the financial health of its news division don't necessarily add up.
- Many of the wounds suffered by CTV News over the past year have been self-inflicted.
- Corus, which runs Global, hasn't sought the same sort of relief even though their finances are shaky. This is because they have developed alternative revenue streams.
- The CRTC could, and should, say no to Bell's request.

A real interesting former insider's take. Perhaps the most damning section of his commentary to me is this one:
"I’ve been told that senior news employees were dismissed on a group video call that lasted barely a minute, and after a press release had told the rest of the world their careers at Bell were over. Did you watch that Succession episode? Yeah, just like that."
Yep, thanks for all those years and all that effort under trying circumstances. Now don't let the door hit you on the way out. Plus, he says they make those fired workers sign an agreement that they won't discuss Bell's reputation or policies with anyone, as a condition of getting their severance.
What a horrible and heartless company.
