CNN To Show New Documentary On TV History

I had long feared that with the changes at CNN, their sometimes-excellent documentary shows had dried up for good. You remember previous efforts like the History of Late Night or the History of Sitcoms.

Now comes "See It Loud: The History of Black Television," which explores the presence (and too often the lack of one) of people of colour on TV. Co-produced by LeBron James, the special notes the big strides that have been made in representation on the tube, and talks to many of the stars that have emerged from the long march to equality on television.

I love any show about TV history, and this one traces an often-ignored theme. It starts on July 9 with four more episodes every Sunday night. You can see a preview below.

Re: CNN To Show New Documentary On TV History

The series begins airing this Sunday at 9 PM Eastern if anyone's interested. (To be honest, I'd almost forgotten about it. One newspaper gives it middling reviews, but as someone who loves TV history, I think it's still worth seeing.)

Now let's just hope for no breaking news!
