I agree with peter, do as I do when John Moore has Maureen Holloway on, as she is as drab as yesterdays dish water I turn the radio off.

As for DaCosta's "Yes, Reshmi snarfed" the definition of snarfed:

snarf
/snärf/
verbINFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN
past tense: snarfed; past participle: snarfed
eat or drink quickly or greedily.
"they snarfed up frozen yogurt"

How was he aware that Reshmi was either eating or drinking.

McMANUS, MICHAEL JAMES We are saddened to announce the death of Michael James McManus, who passed away on Monday, June 27th, at the age of 91. Mike was surrounded by his family: his wife of 47 years Barbara (Miles); and his two children David (Sabrina) and Kelly. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Sophia, Ethan, and Flynn. He was predeceased by his sister Lee, whom he worshipped. Lee and her husband Walter Lund had six children all of whom played a key role in his life.

Mike lived an amazing life. From his days as a student at Loyola College in Montreal, where he received his BA, to spinning records at C.J.A.D, where he had the pleasure of interviewing Frank Sinatra, he brought with him an interest and enthusiasm for life and people which was contagious. After college, Mike made the decision to enter the priesthood. After 3 years as a diocesan priest in Montreal, he was sent to Rome where he earned a degree in Church Law.

When he returned to Ottawa, he served as the English secretary to the Popes representative and hosted a television show on CJOH named "Father Mike and People". Along the way he completed a degree in Communication theory and TV production at Boston University. Mike made the difficult decision to leave the priesthood, to find a partner in life and start a family.

He returned to the radio as a newsman on CFRB before moving into TV at TVO, where he enjoyed a twenty-year career producing and hosting shows like "The Education of Mike McManus", "The Senior Report" and "McManus". Retiring from TVO in his 60s, Mike coupled his extensive experience in TV with his love for the church to start the National Catholic Broadcasting Council (NCBC). Known as the Father of Catholic TV broadcasting, Mike spent 17 years at the NCBC where he produced a documentary entitled "Memories of Martin" which detailed the life and murder of Jesuit Martin Royackers, as well as the Daily Mass on Vision. The Daily Mass continues to be seen across Canada and around the world,

Not being from broadcasting industry I don't know who he was.

According to obit in today's Star he started his broadcast career with 1050 CHUM then to CKLB(CKDO) and CBC.

Perhaps some here may have known of him

Great article in today's Toronto Sun by Rod Sims outlining the benefits of the bill.

I don’t know if any here watch “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” but last night he had as a guest Mike Myers.
Mike was promoting “The Pentaverate” a new Netflix series he created.
In the interview he revealed that one of the characters in the show was based on the late great Glen Cochrane of CFTO fame.

Is this the same Postmedia who received over 42 million from various Canadian taxpayers:

10.8 million from the media bailout
40.3 million from the CEWS
1 million from the Quebec government’s media subsidy program

While reporting 52.8 million net profit in January

Postmedia closed 15 community newspapers, cut 70 jobs, and reduced salaries of employees making more than $60,000 per year in 2020.

(source canadaland.com December 1 2021)

Our tax dollars supported the following United States columnists who appear on a regular basis (I assume that there are no Canadians who are qualified):

Erin Blakemore
Leana Wen
Bijan Bayne
Victor Davis Hanson
Jonah Goldberg

Along with editorial political cartoonist whose cartoons are all USA right wing cartoons

Gary Varvel

I wonder if another of their constant opinion column contributor, the Canadian Taxpayer Federation (who don’t disclose their source of funding) will investigate this waste of our tax dollars

RA wrote: Also, we hear today there were about 1,600 new infections reported in the province. Then they do a GTA breakdown, including Toronto, which might have 205 cases. In an area of around 6 million, with a highly contagious virus, 205 cases really aren't that many. We then see York Region, Peel, Hamilton etc. None of those numbers combined ever comes close to 1,600. So where are all those other cases coming from? We never find out.

This can easily be found out by going to:    https://covid-19.ontario.ca/data/case-numbers-and-spread

Scroll down to: Compare cases by Public Health Unit Select::Table and whichever time frame you want to compare and all the daily data is there by Public Health Unit.

I know, I had difficulty when they changed the measurement of length from league, cubit, hand and barleycorn to inches feet, yards, perch, furlong and mile.

Then they changed weight/volume from peck and bushel to ounces, pounds, stones, hundredweight and tons.

I think the measurement of temperature should dispense with any number system and just use very cold, cold, warm, hot and very hot.

The Federal Court has ruled in favor ot Bell Rogers et al. and awarded almost 30 million dollars (which they probably cant collect) against 2 companies and one individual.

Most likely a shot across the bow to others

"The government (through the CRTC) has no business dictating any shows must be made or broadcast. That's not their department, as far as I'm concerned and I will feel that way to the end of my life. Get. Government. Out. Of. Broadcasting. Content. Period."

Likewise the same government through the CRTC, has no business dictating to companies how to manage and price their infrastructure.

I have noticed the wailing and gnashing of teeth recently about the CRTC not dictating the pricing of data services.

Interesting question from Jerry Agar at the end of the Howard Levitt half hour "hypothetical question if a company made a committment to a regulatory agency do the employees have any recourse if they don't comply with that commitment" Levitt's reply "the employees have no recourse only the regulatory agency"
