The last time John Tory filled in on MITM he was leaning much more into his warm and confident Tory As Radio Host personality and if he continues to shed Dry As Melba Toast Corporate Tory I will enjoy listening to the show. If not, it'll be hockey podcast time and spinning up and down the radio dial.

Alan Carter would definitely be a great fill-in host on MITM down the road and I look forward to seeing where he lands.

Meat Loaf did a typical rock n roll kick-ass job before the All Star game in 94.

Even though there was an unfortunate anthem performance as the reason for this topic , it's been a hoot checking out the other versions.

I also hope this young woman gets the support she needs and she should strongly consider changing her management team.

Found this, thought I'd share, it's Ingrid and her NPR Tiny Desk gig which is always a good test for any artist and their ability to perform live.

Even the media coverage of the purchase of the new New York home and official base of Tom Clark the current consul general and former CTV and Global broadcaster and journalist is very different.

Here's the staid Canadian report from the CBC.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/global-affairs-consul-new-york-condo-1.7262656

Here's the jazzy U.S. story from the New York Post framed from the King Charles angle so they can get the maximum number of views possible.

https://nypost.com/2024/07/12/real-estate/why-did-king-charles-buy-a-condo-in-nyc/

If it's a slow news week coming up will there be a bit of a political kerfuffle over the irresistible "Billionaires' Row" tag and will some media outlet try to make a big deal about the pricey purchase possibly with a request for an interview with Tom Clark to see what he has to say about his new home?

I would think it cost Rogers a good chunk of change to get Krasinski to film this? Imagine the comments on social media the next time there's a Rogers service outage.

Gotta say tho I am a fan of John, the first A Quiet Place movie was brilliant.

2 basic reasons

1. money, too many people had too much invested in keeping her family secret

2. the conviction occurred before the public water cooler that is social media existed in its current form, reducing the chance of the public spreading the sad news because Andrea's story was all over social media last Sunday and well into the rest of the week.

The conversation between several CBC guests linked above breaks it down thoughtfully and a heck of a lot better than one of the roundtables I heard on 1010's Monday edition of MITM where one of the pundits actually said "alleged abuse." His words were a disappointing example of how Ms. Munro's reputation remained unblemished for so long.

If they ended up giving the shift to Jim Richards, why the months and months and months of musical chairs?

Were they waiting for an answer from someone, say John Moore, about if he'd like to eventually take over afternoons again. And if he's said he would, this in-house move makes sense.

Whatever the reason congratulations to Jim Richards on the new shift. I hope he takes the ball and runs with it and I plan on checking the show out.

If it is John Tory sitting in on MITM it would be nice if it's the radio version of John Tory.

It felt like we ended up with the corporate version of Mr. Tory a couple of weeks ago. I listened for a few breaks every day but really missed the affable, friendly presence he used to bring to the show and would always end up turning the dial to another station.

He was brisk almost brusque for the most part when talking about different topics to listeners and didn't begin to sound pleasant and sociable until he had to switch his focus and begin speaking to someone in the studio at which point his speech slowed down and he sounded less clipped and more interested and human.

To be honest this John Tory surprised the heck out of me.

Previous to this I enjoyed John's guest hosting. He was on the ball, confident, had a bit of a smile in his voice and sounded like he wanted to be there.

I'll be listening to MITM to see if we get John Tory as a guest host and if it's radio Tory or corporate Tory.

The author says the providers make it easy to sign up. Not necessarily.

One major point of crucial information the author failed to provide is that proof of current address and identity will be requested, including one or more of the following: a government issued photo ID, driver's license, major credit card etc. by most companies and the author could have suggested the new Canadian check with each company they're considering for the required info they will need to provide. Not every new Canadian will have the required identification.

To be picky, using slang like "cheat sheet" may be confusing for a new Canadian learning English and a separate section to highlight free programming would have been helpful.

Overall the article did the job quite nicely.

Neat-o artwork RA, stylistically ChatGPT and Pixlr (a pun on Pixar perhaps?) seems keen on the late 60's maybe early 70's.

Do you think maybe the results are deliberately wonky to lull all of us into a false sense of security?

I think it's time and the perfect weekend for a double feature movie rewatch: I Robot with Will Smith and Terminator 2.
