Sounds like they're talking about me. I'll get my resume in.

In London, Canada Post delivers flyers each week for Canadian Tire and Home Hardware. They come bundled in the same package together.

I think we'll still get our flyers. They come with the Londoner paper, put out by the London Free Press. I hope that won't be affected.

With apps like flipp, flyers have become obsolete. I haven't touched a physical flyer in years. The few that did arrive went straight into recycling; mainly because the electronic version arrived days earlier.
My phone is on the kitchen wall. It doesn't do aps. I still rely on the flyers. If they don't send my one, I probably won't visit their store.

I also have an intensely personal reason to be upset about this lack of severance and the way the 600+ are being treated.
So yes, I was pretty ticked when I heard these people were not getting severance. They went above and beyond for me and my mother and seeing them treated this way is enraging. I wish them all the best and hope they land on their feet soon. And I cannot thank them enough for their kindness all those years.
Canada's bankruptcy laws need to be changed so that employees go to the head of the line ahead of all other creditors when the Company's assets are distributed.

Some channel my wife watches has the old B&W game shows from the 50s and 60s. In some of them, the contestants smoke during the show and often cartons of cigarettes are awarded as prizes.

It's a program by radio amateurs for radio amateurs. It's really well done. I heard it locally today at 1600 GMT on the 2 M band. It's a good program. I'll be tuning in again next week

A good radio and antenna are essential but a car radio may also produce surprising results.
Before I retired, I spent a lot of time driving the 401 between London and Windsor. That two hour drive time was my DX time on the car radio. I quite often got some rare DX catches.

I just got The Light FM from North Carolina at 10.6.9. Indicative of the coming demise of radio is the fact that there are now so many religious stations. I guess they grab the frequencies others can't afford.
This station apparently has a great transmitter location. This is my farthest catch on this current tropo.
I'm going back out right now to try for that one.

So, I tried it today outside. Nothing really long haul. I got stations from Erie PA, Youngtown OH, Anarbor MI and Wingham ON. Not exactly rare catches around here but it isn't typical. This was rare. I tried it this evening and I was getting CJRT. The first time I've ever got it out here in London.
Today I discovered by accident that reception is really enhanced when the radio's whip antenne is in contact with the metal umbrella pole.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check tomorrow. A week or two ago I was getting the NOAA station from Cleveland on my weather radio.
Might be gone by Tomorrow. Right now I am listening to Eagle 107.5 from Wheeling West Virginia.
So, what are you using? Right now I'm in the basement with only a portable radio with no outdoor antenna. Not picking up anything unusual.

Found this at a Surplus Store. FM radio + MP3 player. I won't be adding the radio to my DXing arsenal but it's decent for local reception. Can be tuned by scanning or by direct frequency entry using the key pad.
Can play MP3 files from a micro SD card or from a thumb drive, With an SD card in the unit you can download the files directly. Or you can plug a thumb drive into the device and it will read the files and play them.
Has a rechargeable lithium battery
$14.95

First week in the industry on the air at CFOS in 1959, in the big studio with a long boom mic sitting across the table from the Farm Editor reading the spots in between reports. First break was a spot for Shur Gain Chick Starter.
The first line was, "Do you want your chicks to lay better, (staring to smirk) if so use Shur-Gain Chick Starter."
Kinda lost it a bit and it came out "Do you want your chicks to lay better, if so use Shur-Gain Shit starter."
The Farm Editor is trying to hold it and the operator across the studio in the control room had his head down banging the table laughing uncontrollably. Still remember the gaff after all these years.
A friend worked at CFOS back in the 1970s. One of their features every day was the obituary notices from the local funeral homes. One was expected to read it in their most sombre and dignified voice.
He told me that a favourite tricks with the other staff members was to gather outside the glass window of the studio and to try and make the reader laugh.

Another one is Kincardine pronounced as "Kingcardine."
