The company still exists, but will immediately be rebranded as "Audacy," in order to better reflect its concentration on audio rather than just radio. It's also retiring its "radio.com" website name, used to stream some of its 200 stations and will emphasize podcasting, while stressing they're not getting out of the radio business.

One thing that hasn't changed is that their stations are still blocked for live streaming outside the US.

And for those wondering exactly how the Blue Jays telecasts/radio broadcasts will work this season, Dan Shulman outlined it on Twitter.

There were at least two instances today where the TV broadcast showed graphics that were of no use to the listeners on the radio. The first one was when Pat Tabler was urging viewers to "watch" some of the hittable pitches that were thrown by Tanner Roark. The second one was when the TV broadcast showed a graphic of Bo Bichette's stats as a shortstop and Buck and Pat were saying "let's take a look". Yeah, that doesn't work too well for the radio listeners.

Also there was an entire inning where they spent talking to the manager, Charlie Montoyo, and almost completely ignored what was going on in the game. Well, that works for the TV viewers and, while the interview with the manager is interesting to both listeners and viewers, I'm sure the listeners would want to know what's happening in the game while it is going on.

This afternoon, the Blue Jays will be offering a live video stream of their game against the Phillies....it'll just be the on-field cameras with no audio. Better than nothing I suppose.

Jim Richards IS on CJAD. I guess they haven't had time to update their website.

Sportsnet has released its spring training TV schedule. Hazel Mae tweeted that Sportsnet is producing three of the games on March 21, 22 and 28 so the remaining should be feeds from the other teams' broadcasts.

The interesting tidbit in the press release is this:
"Sportsnet will be streamlining production for the 2021 season by simulcasting TV broadcasts on Sportsnet 590 The FAN and across the Sportsnet Radio Network. Blue Jays fans can now enjoy the legendary voices of Buck Martinez, Dan Shulman, and Pat Tabler on both TV and radio. Ben Wagner remains part of the Blue Jays on Sportsnet broadcast team, joining Jamie Campbell, Joe Siddall, Hazel Mae, and Arash Madani in covering all the bases throughout the season."

Here's the announcement

Yeah, I was referring just to spring training. Sportsnet should be airing all 162 in the regular season, but I don't think they're planning to produce many spring training games, if any.

As for radio, I don't think they have named Ben Wagner's new on-air partner as of yet. Haven't seen a schedule of radio broadcasts this spring but I would think they would air some games, either on the Fan 590 or online, as they usually do. That's just a guess on my part.

Yeah, and in my opinion ever since Art Bell retired for good, the show hasn't been the same. Noory is just unlistenable IMO.

It'll be the Yankees feed. From what I understood, Sportsnet itself is not planning to produce many games on its own this spring. They'll probably take other teams' feeds for the most part.

Not sure, but 960 has certainly had issues with that timeslot. They had Mike Bullard, then Barry Davis for a while, then Scholes and Caria.

1010 was airing pre-recorded newscasts on weekend evenings even before the recent purge. I believe every newscast after 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays was pre-recorded by the afternoon news person. The only difference was those newscasts were recorded in Toronto and now they are recorded in Ottawa, which makes it sound even worse.

I remember something breaking on a Sunday night (teachers' strike being cancelled maybe?) and the 1010 newscast made no mention of it. Only after the pre-recorded newscast did Kym Geddes, the 1010 news director who was also let go in the recent purge, go on the air to handle the breaking news.

It looks as though Jerry Agar's show is now also simulcast on CJBK in London, in addition to the previously reported simulcast on 610 CKTB.

We've already noted that The Rush from 1010 is simulcast in London. Add in Evan Solomon and it looks like the CJBK morning show is the only remaining local offering on the station.

A couple of interesting takes from the "Wade" memo above:

1) "Later this week, we'll also transition TSN radio stations in Winnipeg and Vancouver to our Funny format, which has already proven highly successful in markets like Hamilton and Calgary with its stand-up comedy content."

Translation: completely automated and needs no human intervention, saving us a fortune in salaries and benefits.

Not surprising this is the route they're choosing. Cheap and doesn't require much thinking to program.

This makes sense - cents? - to me. The station was near zero in the ratings, TSN1050 is easily receivable there, there is no business format in Southern Ontario and BNN Bloomberg is turning out material that can easily be reused.

I hate Bell for what they did last week, but this move was too long in coming.

I think what made the Hamilton station unique was its coverage of the Tiger-Cats. Listeners appear to be most upset about that.

The following text now appears when one enters the TSN 1290 (Winnipeg) site:
"We have some news to share today about changes to our programming. CFRW 1290 AM will no longer be a sports talk radio station.

It was a difficult decision, but the realities of the quickly evolving broadcast media landscape in Canada have made this change unavoidable.

We want to thank our on-air personalities, advertising partners and sponsors, and everyone who has contributed to this station. But especially we want to thank our listeners. Our work here at TSN 1290 was driven by our passion to bring you the very best sports, news and discussion. We sincerely appreciate the time you have spent with us.

You can continue to find TSN sports content on the iHeartRadio Canada platform and on TSN, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Thank you again for your loyalty over the years."

Agreed. I tune out The Rush's hours until the rush hour is over. I can't imagine how it's relevant to a London audience.

Do Jay and Ryan even acknowledge that they are on in London as well? Do they run any items that can be of interest to that specific market? If not, I can't imagine the appeal for the London audience, particularly when CFPL runs local programming at the same time.
