Totally agree.  Politics/Ideology aside;  he "crossed the line"  long before these latest revelations.

SOWNY » PBS Program Alert » November 30, 2021 9:11 pm

I hear you.  It happens occasionally with Rogers.  Recently I watched a recording of the TCM Dean Martin Documentary,  only to have it end about 20 minutes early.  I was able to record it again (complete) the following week.

SOWNY » PBS Program Alert » November 30, 2021 9:00 pm

Sorry,  I forget you are OTA.

After seeing your initial alert,  I checked my Rogers TV Guide and they had it in a two hour slot from 7:30 - 9:30.  It was only after seeing you post tonight and checking the channel,  that I realized it was a Pledge Week issue.

SOWNY » PBS Program Alert » November 30, 2021 8:42 pm

The longer time slot is because the program is being aired during a PBS Pledge week.  No need to adjust any PVR settings;  as you can simply fast-forward through the fund raising segments when watching the recorded program.

I remember when Tamara Cherry was CFTO's (sorry CTV News') crime reporter.  She is a credit to the profession.

One show I really get a kick of out is Sam Ward's An Old Fashioned Christmas, which is linked below (scroll down to the bottom). Sam - a totally blind announcer who does all of his research and production - goes back as far as 1898 for some of the earliest Yuletide favourites, and plays nothing past 1950. Not suggesting today's stations play this older music, but it is interesting to hear these long-ago recordings.

There are a lot of links on this page that I want to hear.  This is all new for me.

Lots more on the main site:

Hey. I knew you were joking. And even if you weren't I don't know how your comment could have offended anyone.

We're cool.

Appreciate that.  I'm kind of a luddite myself.  Not a member of any social media and truth be told...RA has helped me out more than once when I couldn't post a link or a video.

I don't go to the movies.

My late grandmother was a strict Baptist. She was absolutely against smoking, drinking, dancing, playing cards, movies and TV.

I always say that if it wasn't for my fondness for beer, I'd have made a good Baptist, because I don't do any of those other things anyway.

What an odd opinion.  Why would intentionally using out of date technology make a newspaper seem more serious?  That makes no sense to me.

As I said, I'm old fashioned. I listen to real radio, not online streaming. I prefer classical music to hip-hop My phone is on the kitchen wall. I don't use self checkout. I eat real food, not something squeezed from a tube.

Maybe I'm a luddite.

I agree. It's overused. CNN is the worst offender - practically every story is "breaking news." It loses its impact after a while. Better if it's used sparingly.

So true.  A new story that "breaks" in the afternoon is continually introduced as such, hour after hour into the evening schedule.

I've gone through a few of these boxes,  as have many others.  Rogers staff at more than one outlet,  have told me that no brand new units (only refurbished) have been available;  since Ignite was introduced.  Some of the latter August 6, '21 comments posted on this Sowny thread, cover this.

If it came in a box,  it is new.  If it was shrink-wrapped,  it has been previously used.

If it does end up in court,  it won't be in Ontario.  As part of the family's rejection of Ed's plans,  they claim that his intentions are not in compliance with British Columbia laws (4th paragraph);  where Rogers Communications Inc. is incorporated.

When you have a plethora of lawyers and academics discussing any issue,  there will always be convincing arguments and precedents cited;  in support of all arguments/claims put forth in a case.

Barring a capitulation from one side (unlikely),  these claims and counterclaims of who has the ultimate Board authority will be decided in a courtroom.
