I "tuned in" to hear what sounded like a $10.00 cassette player that was running with a stretched belt drive, and was so bad even stopped twice within the same track perhaps because the tape was rewound too tightly.

Saying that, whoever it is that claims any of what I heard as being soothing to one's pets' ears, let alone a human's, is delusional.

You really have to hear it for yourself - my words don't do justice to describe had bad it is.

Listening online is almost unlistenable because of the subbed-out advertisements in overly repetitious insertion. I miss hearing the local ads when I was able to tune in to the actual station.I wasn't pleased when Humber College started their broadcasting that kept me from doing so.

Well....they're actually "on air", so-to-speak.

Their APP is available on both ROKU and in the Android Playstore - although they are not currently saying that they're now available. Their website still says "Coming soon".

There isn't a single program I recognize, so at this time, at least, they are not just running out of date repeats. None of what I saw enticed me to look any further so IMHO that needs to change sooner rather than later.

So much for "Canada's Premiere F.A.S.T. Channel" network.

Total no-show in '23. I never once received an email of their progress.

They do claim now that they're launching in Jan '24.

My dad took me downtown to the downtown Eatons store late that summer of '66 to see the display of colour TVs they were selling, and CFTO provided the source of the signal fed to the display models. The shows themselves were what Channel 9 was going to air as part of their new fall lineup, including Star Trek showing, highlights from what would end up being the series third episode -" Where No Man Has Gone Before". That episode being chosen by CFTO, I have to think now, because its title may have been thought to intrigue and entice new colour TV buyers into actually spending their money.

Our family already owned a colour TV - an Electrohome. My dad liked to buy 'Canadian'. We were already watching Bonanza and Hogan's Heroes in colour, and on rare occasion, if they had not already gone home, my dad's friends would stay and watch as well.

Is this another "1220" - but in video form?

It's late September (all too soon) and still no Join TV.

They have updated their website from its initial iteration. But, and I did sign up to receive their newsletter(s), I have yet to receive any communication from them at all.

Digital Rights Management that could prevent you from recording your favourite show could take us all back to the days where if you missed a show on the air it was gone - until the summer reruns. And you had to be in front of your set to see it.

That will never happen in the days of streaming, of course, but it could still ruin a good thing we've all been enjoying since the days of the home VCR.

Why is ATSC 3.0 Taking So Long?

What happened to the old 8~10 dish satellite signals when the uplinks were 'scrambled' using Videociper II technology, which effectively killed so-called free viewing, may be on the horizon for OTA TV channels.

If you're a 'normal' Netflix subscriber, watching your shows via a Smart TV, Roku, etcetera, you may be unaware of this detail of your account that is to be found via logging into your account on a PC/browser. It is the location where you're watching from. I would encourage you to do so at your earliest convenience.

1) Log in to your account then click-on your avatar to drop down the menu - select "Account"
2) Scroll down to the "Security & Privacy" section
3) Click on the "new" hotlink - "Manage access and devices"

What do you see when the page refreshes? I bet there's a very good chance that you do NOT see the city/town that you are actually located within.

I don't. I live in Sudbury and I see East York, London, and Owen Sound as being recent places that Netflix believes I have been watching from.

Click-on the "IP Address" link for any/all locations that are listed and take note that they are different or are the same in some instances.

This, I sincerely believe, is going to be a problem when Netflix puts into effect the "Primary Location" - their method of tracking viewing activity (that is supposedly) not occurring within the same household, and they will then want to charge you extra for doing so. Even if in fact you are not.

I have contacted their support three times over the last three days and today spoke with a supervisor after requesting to do so. That person is located in the Philippines and has no concept of how large an area Ontario is. But that doesn't matter. The fact that they believe I was in three different locations, regardless of how far apart they are, is the problem.

After speaking with their support, the supervisor did say they have been made aware of this by others (already) but need more evidence of this occurring. They are waiting for affected customers like myself, to call and register this issue with them. If you go through the steps I laid out and see the issue of which I speak, I would encourage you to call them as well.

What I'm a little surprised to see is that what 'we' might see as being impaired channels 4 & 7, because of local OTA, they placed fairly high profile (desirable) stations - PBS-17 on Ch4 and TNT on Ch7.

I remember many people who were unable to see the Rogers program guide when it was placed on Ch5, locally. Keeble, Rogers, Maclean Hunter, and Scarboro cable all placed different channels on both 5 & 9, hoping for the most part to receive minimal complaints I have to think.

It was on this day in 1967 that CKFH/1430 went top 40.  The station had been experimenting in the evenings for a few months but went all in on January 2nd to battle 1050 CHUM.  CKEY had surprisingly bowed out of top 40 in 1965, so other than CKOC in Hamilton, CHUM had the youth market to themselves. After 8 years of playing the hits and some album rock CKFH moved to a country format in 1975.  680 CFTR had become the main competitor for CHUM when they adopted top 40 in 1972.

Mr. "P",

The CKFH tribute site's security certificate looks to have expired.

I had to pick up the 'batphone' every few minutes to see if Program Director Allan Slaight or one of the engineers was calling.

I was listening to CHUM on my transistor radio and if I recall correctly there was little disruption to what I was listening to ,except maybe a brief moment of static, followed shortly by a different voice that I wasn't accustomed to hearing saying (this is) WBZ 1030 Boston and our lights just went out (or words to that effect).

1030 cam in like it was just next door once 1050 disappeared.

I was 13 at the time but it freaked me out a little when over the course of the next half hour or so that they were reporting all of the eastern coast was in the dark.

If it's a question of what to put on a sub-channel, that wouldn't entice cable cutting and not then upset the 'big boys',  I think that at least one OTA transmitter in any given coverage area should carry the parliamentary channel in both English and French.

It's been a very long time since I've been a cable subscriber but I think they still air the federal government's proceeding - YES/NO? Do they carry provincial government sessions? Include those as well if they do.
