The only one here with that view is you.   I assume you speak for all who aren't ditto heads?   It's obvious that's how you feel about Rush yourself because it was the first thing that came to your mind.

SOWNY » AMC TV Version Of Rob Ford Story Has Inspired Casting For The Mayor » May 5, 2020 9:33 pm

Jim Gaffigan does a segment on CBS Sunday Morning.   He's been cooped up in his NYC apartment for 7 weeks with his wife and 5 young children.    I continue to pity him.

Me too.  I wonder how many others joined us in yelling at our screens?

SOWNY » Stunning Decisions By OTA TV Networks During COVID-19 Presser » April 3, 2020 12:24 pm

All of them were very slow to share the on-screen slide data while it was being discussed and that frustrated me immensely.   Instead the camera was focused on each speaker while he referenced the slides off screen.   They finally got their act together as time moved on, but why do they insist on focusing on the guy speaking when we can all hear what he's saying and don't need to look at him?    Aren't they used to meetings that use visual aids during presentations?

SOWNY » John Moore's closet » April 3, 2020 12:20 pm

I know it shouldn't matter, but he was being humorous with a fellow comedian and it worked.   I got a good chuckle from it.   He lives close by and though I've never met him anywhere in the Yonge / St. Clair area, he often brings up neighbourhood topics on his show and I like that a lot.    Today he was chatting about how Mt. Pleasant Cemetery was closed to the public and it looks like frequent outings there are something we have in common.

SOWNY » Former CTV News President Rails Against CBC » March 22, 2020 9:49 am

CTV has stepped up big time in this crisis.     Perceptions are of the CBC being top heavy, often out of touch and slow to react, and I agree.    This blunder is absolutely nuts.  Aside from that, stay tuned for next weeks episode of The Current, discussing COVID-19's effect on Italy 2 weeks ago with endless in depth interviews of people stuck in their apartments around the same time.     Not very useful, but generally how they roll.

SOWNY » Brutal ... » March 22, 2020 9:22 am

I found it strange that when I tuned in to 1010 from 10a to 11a, Dr. Clayton Greenway was fielding phone in calls about the virus and mainly how long it lives on certain surfaces and how sanitize them.   It's a show about  pet medicine!     He's really good, the show is informative and though he's a Vet and not an MD, his knowledge is better than most, but it was just weird once I understood what the callers were asking about.   It wasn't about Fluffy!

I know two nurses on the front lines.   Wives of my friend's kids.   In their mid 30s, They're "Millennials".    Rock solid, well educated medical professionals.

A few insights from some of those involved in the Rob Ford saga as it unfolded.      At least it didn't go "straight to DVD" but I'm not impatient to see it.

Surely a sign he's a raving communist despot bent on censoring the media.  And then there was the horrible election scandal over Andrew Scheers love for fortune cookies said to have cost him the election.

I'd much rather CBC use tax dollars to make shows people actually watch than the multiple series they've produced that struggle to reach even 200k in primetime.

I agree.   The CBC went into overdrive with ads for this show and it's far from a new idea!   Tired old crap from the past.

SOWNY » Family Feud Canada » January 9, 2020 11:17 pm

It's been a few weeks, but the last time I was taking the TTC subway, there were loads of ads everywhere about the show.   I'm talking wall murals at Union Station, not the usual stuff.    I have no interest in the show and I am of two minds over the advertising.   Is my tax money being wasted or is it great to see the TTC get solid ad sales?  Like they don't anyway.

SOWNY » Matt Galloway says goodbye yesterday in studio and today » December 6, 2019 7:25 pm

I wish him well.   I remember when he filled the shoes of Andy Barrie.   I still prefer Andy, but all the same wish him luck with The Current.   From hearing him do interviews and understanding his hot points, he's not too far from Anna Maria Tremonti, so I don't see a big shift.   I wished for better.   Friday's on The Current were always better for me because it wasn't the same old ...      Hopefully Matt will take the Bull by the horns and make some waves!

Smart thinking, but don't forget he could just as easily give a boost to the Rebel!!!
Rebel view on Don Cherry:

It was pointed out by a Veteran on TV today that while Don was ranting about the Legion Poppy, he was wearing one that is evidently of his own design and not a Legion Poppy.    The video attests to at least the fact that he wasn't wearing a Legion Poppy.   Don't know where he got his from.

There's a simple solution.  Move around between the services.  There's no need to have more than one or two at a time with the volume of content on each one.  Go away for 3 or 4 months and there will be lots of new content when you come back.

People can also illegally file download and share by obtaining a VPN (for anonymity) account and a Bittorrent client, total monthly cost $4.   Watch for this to increase as the streaming packages become more fragmented with consumers needing multiple packages to view a few shows.    Here's a bad case: Recently with IndyCar racing coverage.  10 of 17 races are available on NBC OTA while 7 are on Sportsnet Now-plus (including the Toronto Indy!).  SN+ is $200 / year or $28 / month.   So, consumers are expected to fork over $200 for 7 races.   Sportsnet Now-plus' other offerings aren't related to motorsport, mainly consisting of foreign soccer and rugby matches.   IndyCar and Rogers basically shot themselves in the foot, putting their content on a over priced package that most motorsport fans have little interest in.

A handful of people getting annoyed over it on social media doesn't amount to much, but the media reports it as if it's a big deal.   Must be a slow news day.   I thought it was hilarious.  And don't forget that they gave upstate New York a rough time too.
