Personally I'm not sure why anyone would want to buy a newspaper during these times.  What's next?  Buying the local blacksmith shop.  These buyers must know something we don't know.

The heading was are there  too many commercials; but instead everyone chimed in with the format they like or don't like.  So let me keep to the heading.  Yes I think they have too many commercials.  Especially CNN in the morning.  Enjoy the morning team; but whenever I tune in they are in a commercial cluster.  Decided to spend more time on CP 24 in Toronto.

I'll say this for sure.  When Rob was Mayor he kept my taxes down.  Since Tory has been in power they have gone up every year.  So I'll say thanks Rob for keeping our taxes down at a decent rate.

This is regarding the weather person being on location.  Also when Jennifer used to be at City and was always on location.  This is something a lot of people don't know.  Why so much time spent on where they are broadcasting from?  This is not a programming thing.  It is a sales oriented.  In other words the location that they are visiting are supplying revenue to the station; hence the time spent on where they are broadcasting from.  At least that's what I've been told.  If I'm wrong please correct me.  RA's opening comments are dead on however.  I just want them to get to the weather.  Especially with the weather that's coming.

I'll tell you one thing.  AMC plays one too many commercials.  That's why the movies are so long.  I personally wouldn't miss them because of that; although from time to time they have some pretty good films.  AMC is a station that I always have to PVR because of their commercial load.

As I've been told for a very long time.  If you don't like the music or the format....just hit the button and move on.  It's that simple.  No one is forcing you to listen to Christmas Music if you don't like it.

Glad to see they have come to their senses.  It was ridiculous in general  for radio to pull it in the first place, trying to be 21st century politically correct..  How many times (male or female) have you been at a party and the host pours you a drink and you think it's a little strong and you say "Say what's in this drink?" It was the 40's.

Wonder if the Me Too movement ever listen to Ed Sheeran?  "The Shape of You" for Example with lyrics like "
Last night you were in my room
And now my bedsheets smell like you
Every day discovering something brand new
I'm in love with your body

Less offensive than "What's In This Drink?"

Well they sure didn't miss anything.  Rosemary Barton; in my opinion; from CBC was by far the best moderator of the evening.

Two major debates.  The first one I understand why it was done in quebec; as it was done in French.  BOTH however done in the province of Quebec.  There are other provinces you know.

I’ve tried to Google this question a few times; but nothing.  So.  I’ve noticed for quite some time now, Ken  Shaw no longer co-hosts the News at Noon. At first I thought they gave him a Summer break.  Well it’s the middle of Sept. and Michelle is still hosting alone.

Here’s my question. Do you think Ken has a new contract?   After all his service over the years I think he deserves to do just the news at 6. Thoughts?

I think the time has come to eliminate Cancon rules for radio entirely.

I was never a fan of the forced airplay, but I will admit that it certainly worked. The Canadian recording industry is in pretty good shape and Canadians have certainly made a worldwide impact with a plethora of superstar artists. It’s at a state now where we no longer need to force it on people. It’s well respected and established.

And I don’t for a moment believe that eliminating Cancon would suddenly mean stations here would stop playing Drake, Bieber or any other well known musician. The Canadian music industry would not simply stop if the rules were removed.

I would also argue that Canada itself has changed. Where many of us used to downplay anything Canadian as instantly inferior, I don’t think that’s the case any longer. Most Canucks seem to have great pride these days in what’s turned out here and we've proven we can compete with anyone in the world. So why keep old regs. that simply reinforce that old stereotype?

The reason I hated Cancon when it started is I have never supported government telling radio programmers what they have to play or indicating what format they can adopt. Politicians know nothing about radio and shouldn’t get to say what they think you must hear.

And besides, they reached their objective with the rules – it’s time to stop it on the air.

And for God’s sake, don’t repeat this mistake online. Government should keep their grubby little fingers out of trying to program what's on the Internet. There are simply too many worldwide choices for users for it to ever be effective anyway.

I agree with RA.  It's been almost 50 years that the Can-Con regs have come in.  50 Years.  50 Years.  If we can't stand on our own now; then will we ever be?  Let's stand on our own two feet in 2019.

Nothing personal against Stafford; who I always believed to be a very funny, talented person.  I will agree with some that this seems quite out of character for Mike.

There used to be a written rule as part of your employment contract.  I'm sure it still exists.  "If you publicly embarrass the radio station or parent company in any way, this will mean instant dismissal." I do hope there is some explanation.

What does Wikipedia have to say about Edenvale  today?

"Little remains of the once vibrant community. For many years, the most prominent feature of the former village was the Edenvale Garage & Motor Sales on Highway 26, at the centre of the former village, but this has since closed."

Interesting location for the Roxodus Festival.  I wonder if CKNT will broadcast the festival live?
