Clicking in, it's just a vintage clip. Why wouldn't the subject line be written as "Norm Abrams first 1979 'This Old House' appearance" or something a bit more descriptive?

My first reaction was to wonder if he had passed away.

Your flip-clock comment,  takes me back to an earlier time.

The one I had isn't on this page;  however there sure were a lot of them made back then.

SOWNY » Where Do These Alternate Versions Of Hit Records Come From? » October 20, 2020 12:04 pm

The album cost was always good,  given the number of hits on each album.  I wasn't aware of the history you brought up that explains my recollections.  Appreciate the info.

SOWNY » Where Do These Alternate Versions Of Hit Records Come From? » October 20, 2020 11:18 am

I had quite a few back in the day.  My impression was that the songs were originals,  but not the final versions that were released.  Sudden cut-offs,  shorter instrumental intros,  etc.

I always love these interesting pieces that you dig up, RA.

I didn't know about the Mike Darrow song,  until now.

I have no idea if it's available today,  but back in 1995 I was staying at a Walt Disney World Resort in Fla. and after checking in decided to catch a 6:00 pm newscast in my room.  I was very surprised to come across CFTO's Ken Shaw and on another channel 680 news.

I don't know if this was unique to the Disney property or provided by a local cable provider with the Snowbird audience in mind.

Frontline,  American Experience,  Nova,  American Masters,  POV,  Independent Lens,  Ken Burns Docs.,  Midsomer Murders,  Vera,  Poirot and locally sourced shows about New York State and Southern Ontario towns, history etc.

Even with all these,  I know I am forgetting others.

PBS has always been a must have channel for me.

SOWNY » Sports, yes all sports T.V. ratings are down... » October 10, 2020 2:13 pm

In my case I tend to be a "Toronto" fan as opposed to a sport at large.

The Jays really grabbed my interest this year, however the Leafs never got out of the gate and basketball isn't my thing.  I still read the sports sites and catch the odd highlight;  but watching another city's team has never been of interest.

Also,  I think cash has nailed it with his comment.  He is not the first one to make the observation that hockey in summer is not a big attraction to many.

It's not just you RA;  and it isn't a new issue.

Aging myself (and then some) I remember Dave Devall talking about the then revolutionary introduction of Doppler Radar;   to CFTO's weather forecasting tools.   Truthfully however, even today regardless of the source,  weather forecasts  are rarely very accurate beyond 3-4 days.

Fair enough.  This 62 year old agrees with you about the "nutters" and sadly they seem to come from every demographic.
