Ever wonder what those who toil on air for the newsrooms of WGRZ, WIVB and WKBW take home every year? The answer may surprise you and it comes from a recent Alan Pergament column in the Buffalo News:
"According to multiple sources, reporters with less than three years experience are likely to earn between $38,000 and $40,000. They will get small annual increases to about $60,000 after five years and long time reporters generally can make more than that. Main anchors usually get six figures, but even their salaries have decreased here in recent years as the size of the TV market has declined."
Not really a lot of money, but as Pergament points out, the market has now slid to 53rd overall in the U.S. and the salaries would tend to reflect that. (On the plus side, the figures are in U.S. funds so that makes it a little better!)
