A preview of Thursday's finale for those who might like to tune in online.
Don Imus’ final radio show set to air after 50 years
Somebody can surely correct me, but I think Imus was the first radio host to use the "In The Morning" moniker as part of his on air I.D. After that, every market seemed to have one - including CFTR, where Brady In The Morning was a ratings champ for many years.

I meant to listen to this online but was unable to do it during the last half hour. Turns out I would have been disappointed. Apparently Imus did the first hour or so, then signed off with three hours of "Best Of," which seems like a bit of a cop out to anyone waiting for the big send off.
He DID however, have some famous last words - and a last song - and you can read about them here.
Imus' final broadcast ends early with a tipped-over mic

Just found the audio of the final 15 mins. It's here.

Wow. I know he is a radio legend in the U.S., and worked hard to earn that status, but I couldn't understand half of what he said in that clip.

Imus has always been a bit of a mumble mouth. I'm not sure why but it only added to his legend on the radio among his fans. Plus a lifetime of booze, drugs and age - he's 77 now - haven't helped.

I disagree. Booze and drugs have helped me tremendously -- to get that age.
