Talk about waiting until the last minute - the season officially begins on Thursday afternoon.
Ben Wagner has been confirmed as the new the full time play-by-play announcer for the Jays this season, with the busy Dan Shulman sitting in on occasion. Mike Wilner remains part of the team as well and it looks like he may go back to his "Blue Jays Talk" duties after the game.
And who replaces Joe Siddall now that he's moved to the TV side? No one permanent, apparently. They've announced a 'rotating roster' of colour men will be used. My guess? One of them will prove more popular than the others and they'll eventually be given the gig full time.
To be fair, Rogers didn't get a lot of time to recruit new blood. Long time broadcaster Jerry Howarth made his sudden retirement announcement on February 16th - just a few weeks before spring training. No word yet on who will be replacing Wagner for the Bisons broadcasts in Buffalo.

Update: Pat Malacaro, who worked in various roles for WGR-AM as well as backing up Wagner on the Bisons broadcasts in Buffalo, gets the minor league team's play-by-play gig.

Anyone else realize that the Bisons PBP post has seen a LOT of well-known voices move on to bigger and better things? Consider:
*Pete Weber: Also did PBP for the Sabres and analyst duties for the Bills before getting the call to the NHL and becoming the PBP voice for the Nashville Predators.
*John Murphy: First an analyst for Bills games, he's now THEIR PBP voice.
*Greg Brown: Pittsburgh Pirates PBP TV voice
*Jim Rosenhaus: Now part of the Cleveland Indians radio broadcast team(he'll likely succeed Tom Hamilton when he retires).
