R.I.P. Jim Weir

Long time London-area broadcaster Jim Weir has passed away at age 69.

Jim, a native of Dorchester Ontario spent the majority of his career just steps from his hometown at CFPL radio 980 in London as the afternoon drive host.

He finished his more than 30 year career as morning man at CHOK in Sarnia. He fell ill suddenly at his home in London last week and never recovered. He leaves behind his wife, 2 children and several grandkids.

Jim was the older brother of Glen Weir, a 13 year veteran of the C.F.L. and one of my old drinking buddies.

May he rest in peace...

Re: R.I.P. Jim Weir

There was a Jim Weir at CFGM in the '70s, but I'm thinking it might be a different person.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Weir

That's terrible news.  I touched base with Jim a couple of months ago via social media after many years and was looking forward to keeping in touch.  Very sad...
