The CW Launches Free Streaming Channels On Its Website

It's the first time I've seen alternate channels on a network's own website. But then The CW has never been like a normal network.

It's launched a series of free streaming channels on its site, featuring both CW and non-CW shows. The list includes Ion, which is available through an antenna on Channel 51 from the Buffalo area but otherwise isn't shown in Canada, Game Show Central, which boasts nothing but what its namesake implies, a food/cooking channel, an all-crime network, several movie networks, a horror movie outlet, a comedy channel, a station devoted to anime, a 90s outlet, a streamer devoted to nature programs, a sci fi place and an all western station.

Those show varied programs, but there are also on demand choices devoted to a specific show. One has nothing but Dick van Dyke shows, another runs Carol Burnett's classic variety program non-stop, and there's even ongoing reruns of The Rifleman. Oddly, only one features an actual CW show - it programs nothing but Penn & Teller's comedy/reality series "Fool Us."

Perhaps most interesting is all the CanCon. One station shows nothing but Kim's Convenience, another features endless "Heartland" repeats, while a third feeds you non-stop episodes of The Kids In The Hall. Ironically, considering the latter, you'll need a VPN set to the U.S. to see any of them.

You can check out the free streaming services here.

Or you can choose from an on demand menu.
