The Southern Ontario/WNY Radio-TV Forum / Could This Subcarrier Be Coming To OTA TV In Buffalo?

If it did, I would imagine it would wind up being pretty popular. It's Fubo, an all sports network that is usually by subscription only. But the streamer is finding it worthwhile to make deals with TV stations across the U.S. to try and get its signal on subcarriers of popular channels, much like the ones already on in Buffalo.

"Fubo appears intent on capitalizing on the reach of free broadcast TV, which has grown in adoption as consumers look for cheap ways to watch local programming and network news and sports in an era of rising cable and satellite bills."

There's no word if the Queen City would be on such a list, but the station has a lot of popular sports and it would likely be an easy sell to join with an existing broadcaster to add it to its signal.

I think there was or is another sports subchannel network called stadiom.
The only problem is fubo will compeet with ESPN and other sports channels in the states.

If it did come to Buffalo, odds are pretty good it would land on WBXZ ch 56. In all the markets to date this service is only offered on LP stations. The channel in NYC operates at a whopping 500 watts. In LA, 1200 watts. By comparison, WBXZ is a flamethrower at 15,000 watts.

56-1: Newsnet. 56-2: Sportsnews Hiighlights 56.3: ShopHQ. 56-4: Ace TV. I think they have enough room.

WWHC reception is impossible in GTA as they co channel with Toronto station.

I believe that's CBLT, which is also on Channel 20.

WWHC-LD is in Olean N.Y. The channel is digital, but only has SD / 480i main and sub carriers.

From what I can see, the channel only has a 3kw ERP, and has a directional pattern, contour is an area of about 31.6 miles

at 3kW, a flock of migrating geese could walk over their signal let alone CBLT-DT.

WWHC is no longer transmitting from Olean NY.They have moved to south Buffalo.Also WWHC is approved to move to Grand Island and change to RF 17 15KW which will interfere with Global TV in Niagara Region.

Thanks for the update and correction. I was checking on "Rabbit Ears" and thought that it was current info.

CHCH-DT also experiences the same interference issue in the southern portion of the Niagara region on RF15 from the Low Power repeater of with the same RF assignment on the US side. I think it is for Daystar or T Christian Ministries....

Why the FCC would give a low power repeater "protected" status when Canada has a primary channel on the same RF assignment is beyond me...
