Shawn Simpson co-hosted the morning shift at all sports station TSN 1200 from 2003-2012 and was a well known name in Ottawa radio. He'd previously played for both an OHL and an AHL team but never made it to the majors due to injuries. But his experience helped him find work in broadcasting with his knowledge of the game.

"Simmer" as he was known, was just 56 when he passed away this week. It's still not clear what took him at such an early age, but he did have a history of mental illness issues.

"Simmer" as he is known by, was laid off in the summer of 23 when Bell Globe media made a ton of cuts to not only radio personalities, but radio stations as well. My sister lives in Ottawa and they were paying tribute to "Simmer" all day today on TSN1200 Ottawa.

He was very well liked and he went a bit too early.

The world would be so good if it weren't for some people...
