The Southern Ontario/WNY Radio-TV Forum / CHCH/City TV Both Looking For Morning News Anchor

The position is listed on Broadcast Dialogue, looking for someone to fill a slot on the station's "Morning Live" show as co-host.

What's odd about the posting is that is comes with an asterisk attached, every time the word "co-host" is listed. If you scroll down to the end of the want ad, it explains it this way:

"* This position will be filled as a Reporter or Video Journalist and is eligible for premiums for “live” Anchoring."

So is it an anchor position or isn't it? Not sure I've seen such a qualification like that before.

Apparently CHCH isn't the only one on the hunt for help in the GTA.

City TV is searching for the right candidate to be their new news anchor on Breakfast Television. But it's not a permanent one. The position is for 12-months only, which makes me wonder if we're talking a substitute for a maternity leave absence.

I looked at the job posting again on Channel Zero's website, chz.com for CHCH, to see if this is really an anchor position.

Another line at the end of the post says:
"Union position is nominally"

Looking up nominally online: in name only; officially though perhaps not in reality.

Another definition reads:
Something nominally true is true in name only. This refers to things that are only titles or formalities. It's the opposite of "really." Words with the root nom relate to names, and nominally refers to situations where someone has a name or title that doesn't carry a lot of weight.

Based on this, it's mainly a reporter position with opportunities to fill in as an anchor.
