Is anyone having issues trying to access SOWNY? It was not loading properly for me. I can access it now.

I've come across this issue before. I can't say definitively, but unless you're having connection issues from your ISP (which is doubtful) I'm guessing the problem is with Boardhost, which is where SOWNY originates. I've seen this before and way too often.

Sometimes, they just go down for no apparently reason, only to resurface a few minutes later. I've contacted them repeatedly about this but they're not exactly known for their customer service and I have never received a reply back.

My only advice is to try this:

Go to isitdownrightnow.com and paste in the SOWNY address you use to access the site from your menu bar. This will tell you whether the server is down or whether it's local to your machine.

The other thing is try it a few minutes later. For all their silence, the Boardhost outages do not often last long and thankfully don't happen that often. It just feels that way!

Several years ago. I could not access SOWNY through Google. It still doesn't work for me today. RA suggested I try another search engine, which I did. DuckduckGo works very well.

Me too, it never appears on Goggle, but it does on DuckDuckGo and Bing. Anyone know why?

This reminds me of a call I got in the middle of the night back around 1982 at CHFI. We were off air for maintenance at the tower and some woman called in livid that we weren't announcing we were off air, on air.

I gave her the Chum-FM bat line number and suggested they might be able to help by making an announcement for her.

Reminds me of my favourite ever moment from WKRP In Cincinnati where one of the station personnel is heard on the phone saying to a listener, "How can we announce we're off the air when we're off the air?"

Easy. The same way you email the IT department to let them know the email's down.
