His shows and movies were definitely not what you would call the norm. David Lynch, who became famous for movies like "Blue Velvet" and "Mulholland Drive" and the 'damn fine coffee' on TV's "Twin Peaks" (Who killed Laura Palmer?) has passed away. The director with a skewed sense of the world was 78.

As far as we know, he didn't leave any extra ears behind.

David Lynch, visionary filmmaker behind ‘Twin Peaks’ and ‘Mulholland Drive,’ dies at 78

He's been erasered.
But seriously, my Blue Velvet story is that I saw the movie when it first came out at the theatre.
The group I was with and I found it so darkly funny we laughed out loud in the theatre several times.
There was a group sitting right behind us and they never laughed at all.
When the movie ended and the lights went up we realized one of the people in the humourless group was none other than Bruce Cockburn.
I heard him and his friends muttering about how disgusting and bad the movie was.
That only confirmed my impression of his music being angry and humourless too.
qu'elle suprise!

"Play Candy Coated Clown."
Dennis Hopper's character didn't realize his favorite song was actually "In Dreams" by Roy Orbison.
