We think of today's radio in terms of stations and dayparts, instead of individual shows. But this CFRB ad from Jan. 1947 shows what was popular back then - and how very different radio was before music formats took over almost every station.

Interesting to note that 1010 once carried NHL Hockey back in the day and that its number one show was the Lux Radio Theatre. In the years before TV, this was entertainment.

People listened to the radio back the way we watched television in the 1960's. They listened to specific programs not the actual station. We never watched ch 4 in Buffalo exclusively, although it sometimes seemed that way. They just carried many of the programs that interested us.
