I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the CRTC has a YouTube site, although I'd never heard of it before I accidentally stumbled across it. It attempts to explain what the Commission does and how consumers can take advantage of the rules if they feel they've been wronged.
And then there's The Martels. This is a fictional family invented by the CRTC to try to simplify regulations and how they affect the public. Among the topics:
-Your options for your wireless service -Why are some commercials too loud and what can you do about it? -Did a TV commercial just cut off your favourite show? -Why aren't some online shows available for streaming in Canada? -When it comes to TV channels, you've got options. -Why is the big game blacked out?
I'm not sure how many people see any of these videos or if they're even aware of the site. I guess it's useful to someone, but to me, for the country's major bosses of broadcasting, it's a bit of an amateur night production.
The YouTube counter shows very low viewership. Considering the number of years those clips have been posted, the Canadian public "have no idea" they exist, IMHO.
