No Moore

I have tuned in to John Moore a few times this week, and I don't know if it's a coincidence, but each time I've listened he's talked about how he starts his vacation on Friday and how he can hardly wait.
He did it again today talking about how much he's looking forward to the end of his shift Friday when he starts vacation.
If I were the manager, I'd tell him behind the scenes to pipe down on the eager to be off the air for two weeks schtick.
Also there's lots of listeners who won't have a vacation. I'm sure they don't want to hear someone else crowing about theirs.
I once worked with a guy who got weekends off, and he'd leave his nice day shift every Friday saying, "have a great weekend, everybody!."
Everybody in the room would be working on the weekend.
He became the most hated man in the office.

Also concerning - this morning at the 8:30 AM update, he completely blanked on the name of his newsman - the same guy he's been working with for over a year. They joke he was already in "vacation mode," but not being able to recall the moniker of the guy you've been working with for so long is terribly worrying. Not the first time this has happened.

I agree this stuff does rub fellow staffers the wrong way, never mind the more important audience. After watching several decent people get shuttled out of this industry (some warranted, others less so) throughout my own career, there is a decent queue of qualified people willing to replace Mr. Moore. And I think they'd do so happily.

Provided there is no underlying medical issue, gapping on coworker names is pathetic and has a tinge of arrogance. I worked with a person who is just as terrible with coworker names as Mr. Moore appears to be, getting them right about 40% of the time. As turnabout is fair play, I won't mention that name here.

Actually, I was more worried about his mental well being. His father died from the ravages of dementia, as did my own mother. It runs genetically in families. I've long been concerned about him, because this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened on air.

He needs to get himself tested fast. There are medications and lifestyle changes (stop drinking, lose weight, get more sleep and more exercise) that he can do to delay the onset of Alzheimers. Never ignore early warning signs because they often happen a decade before the condition really takes hold.

I'm not saying he has anything wrong with him. Everyone gets more forgetful as they age and the morning show is a beast to handle. But if it runs in the family, it's always a concern. I wish him well.
