There's a total of 32 NHL teams. To come in at #30 isn't exactly a major accomplishment. But that's where the Toronto Maple Leafs rank in the most recent survey of fans in terms of broadcast teams. The Athletic, an off-shoot of the New York Times, indicates fans don't think much of the coverage provided by either TSN or Sportsnet.
"Despite often getting the most experienced broadcast teams in the country, a huge percentage of Toronto fans lamented the fact that they don’t have a “home” broadcast on television. They also noted a strong preference for the regional TSN broadcasts over games shown elsewhere."
So if the Leafs were near the bottom, who's at the top? It's the Detroit Red Wings duo, led by former Toronto broadcaster Ken Daniels, who did sports on CJCL back before it became The Fan and was still at 1430. He also appeared on CBC-TV, before eventually landing the Red Wings' gig.
