I know there are some here for whom John Tory's voice is like nails on a blackboard, and those people should be ready to tune out CFRB's morning show beginning July 28th.

Regular host John Moore revealed on Monday he's leaving on his annual two week vacation next week and the former afternoon talker and Toronto mayor will be taking his place.

Personally, I have no problem with Tory's observations, because he's had his hands on the levers of power and he knows how everything works from the inside. But I'm also aware not everyone feels that way.

Proceed accordingly.

Personally, I have no issues with either of these broadcasters.

Only thing I dislike about him filling in are the reminders about "when I was Mayor" .... we know Johnny, we know....

Tory is a sucker for the ASMR of his own voice.

As much as he wins, we all lose.

Moore was talking Tuesday morning about the U.S. Ambassador to Canada calling Canadians "nasty" for not buying more American products like booze and not crossing the border to visit anymore. Moore, who talks about his tippling all the time on air, admitted he's moved on from American liquor.

I admit it's none of my business, but I have to wonder where he's going on his two week vacation. He's confirmed many times in the past that he loves going away to Cape Cod in Massachusetts when he's off. It's totally his choice and I won't judge him, but I can't help but wonder if he's heading to the U.S. in these troubled times to spend his two weeks - and his money - in a place many Canadians are deliberately avoiding.

I hope he address this on air before he leaves. I'd love to know where he's spending the 14 days beginning next week.

I think there has been an overemphasis in Canadian media on the notion that Canadians are offended by American policy.

From my own part I choose not to travel to the US because I have no desire to be thrown into a concentration camp. Perhaps Moore feels his class and skin colour insulates him from such a threat. Additionally, I don't buy American produce in the grocery store not out of anger at Trump, but because there's no longer a presumption that it's safe to eat.

Doesn't John have family in the US?  I thought I heard him once talk about seeing relatives in the US on his holidays.

My nephew's wife and 9 of her friends from highschool had planned a "girls trip" to New England in August.  They cancelled it a few weeks ago and are going to Nova Scotia and Halifax instead.

Another friend who has a business degree from the University of Michigan told me last week that he has sold all of his US stocks in his portfolio and increased his Canadian holdings along with some European investments.  He handles his own investments and has always made out pretty good on the markets.
He claims he won't be investing in US products until Trump is gone, and the US government has a change of attitude regarding the relationship with Canada.

I haven't abandoned American products but do buy Canadian if the local version is comparable.  Recently bought some Oasis orange juice rather than my usual US brand.  The Canadian owned Oasis is just as good and similar price.

Yes, he refers to them frequently. I believe they're in the Carolinas.

I wonder if he will address his ultimate destination on air before leaving. Given the current climate here, it's probably better for him if he doesn't.

Ditto, I'm sure John will mention it or if not tweet a few times mid-vacation with a photo or three,( golf will probably be involved 😏⛳ ) and then someone will post the details on the big yellow board.

I have heard Moore mention before that he has a lot of friends in Cape Cod and that they all have wonderful dinner parties and fun etc.
