A now retired Bob Costas traces his career back to two major incidents - something unhappy that happened to him in high school and his own father, an inveterate sports gambler.
A great 10 minute interview about his career, the state of sports today and the influence of gambling on games - and why he refused to read spots for the services that let fans wager.
I have always liked Bob Costas as a sports broadcaster. But I loved him as an interviewer on his show "Later" Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it too often because for some reason WGRZ refused to carry it. If the tropo gods were smiling, I could watch on WROC or WICU.
Today, you would have been able to watch it the next day on the NBC website. A shame they didn't have streaming then, because I thought Costas was quite good with his guests, too.
